About USIEA

US International Education Association

Founded in 2010, the US International Education Association (USIEA) is a not-for-profit organization (not a 501c organization) registered in the United States. USIEA focuses on cross-border education research and international program partnerships between Chinese Universities and universities in English speaking countries with an emphasis on the United States. We work exclusively with short term study abroad programming in the areas of student mobility, research and education.

Student Mobility – Developing Partnership Opportunities for Chinese Students

Our mission is to provide study abroad opportunities for Chinese students through a network of Canadian, UK, and US universities. We are proud to say that over the past several years we have sent over 5,000 Chinese students to our partner universities including: Boston University, Columbia University, University of California: Berkeley, University of California: Riverside, University of California: San Diego, University of Pennsylvania, and University of Wisconsin: Madison.

We work with partners to develop platforms for mutual understanding and cooperation between Chinese universities and universities in English speaking countries. USIEA promotes various educational exchange programs in English language acquisition, summer programming, semester long programs and custom programming. Our aim is to foster greater communication among different education systems and cultural backgrounds.

We have developed a higher education network throughout China with 60 membership universities located in several provinces and cities. Many of the universities include top tier “211/985 Project” universities and universities administered by education authorities at the provincial level. By working with select universities, USIEA provides students from partner Chinese universities with study abroad opportunities in Canada, the UK and US.

Research – Information on the Chinese Study Abroad Market

With a wealth of information gained through prior experience, we are conducting research on the international education landscape in China.  We base our research on our network of 60 Chinese universities. Through this network, USIEA focuses on student behavior when studying overseas, including the decision making process and key factors which influence students’ choice of destination countries, institutions and programs. Research has also been conducted at the institutional level with partner schools; for example, development of cross-border education and student exchange programs in different formats,  how overseas courses are recognized by Chinese universities, and how credits are transferred to students’ home universities. Research may be shared with our partner universities to help further the exchange of students and development of programs.

Education - International Education Curriculum Development

USIEA is committed to working with Chinese partner institutions to increase student mobility by increasing awareness about study abroad opportunities. We have partnered with Chinese universities to develop international education programs and assist institutions with the tools they need to facilitate the international education process. USIEA organizes lecturers and experts working on the front lines of international education to develop a curriculum on “International Education and Inter-Cultural Communication.” This curriculum covers a wide range of topics related to students studying overseas, laying a strong foundation which prepares students for challenges arising out of different teaching methodologies and cross cultural understanding while abroad.  We emphasize pre-departure preparation and the integration process once students arrive on campus.

Mission Statement

To provide every university student with an equal opportunity to have an international education experience.

Vision

- To become the most comprehensive source of research in the field of international education within higher education in China
- To become the market leader organization for study abroad programs in China

It was an amazing experience studying and living in sunny California. UCR is like a garden where the flowers of knowledge, freedom, respect, and happiness are in full blossom. Grab a cup of coffee, sit in the lovely sunshine, open my favorite book, and start my brand new day.

While studying at Columbia University, I was taken to the real science. This is not the "textbook science", but science at the frontier. With the inspiration from the professor, I started trying to solve the critical problem independently and the process has been full of excitement. No doubt the spirit of independence and the capacity of foresight would be indispensable for my future life. Columbia University is definitely an amazing place to improve you at the fundamental level.

Studying in this program, my English, especially business English skills, got improved, which will make my job hunting easier. I am just so glad to be in part of this program.

You live the same way as others and feel comfortable in home country.Only those who have studied in a foreign country understand the opportunities and the challenges you have to confront. Never give up and you will obtain not only knowledge but also the courage to face uncertain future.

I had a really wonderful time at CELOP and made a lot of friends that I still keep in touch with today. My instructors were great and taught me a lot both inside and outside classroom. I also had a conversation partner who was very helpful in improving my English. My experience at CELOP really helped me learn more about American culture and schools which has allowed me to succeed in my current position. I wish I could go back and study there again and again. You will never forget your experience here.

If you ask me what the most awesome activity is while I study at Metropolitan College Boston University in regards to academics, my answer is definitely networking events and professional conferences. Boston is home to many institutions of higher education like MIT, Harvard, and Boston College. Every year an increasing number of elite specialists in different industries from all over the world come to Boston for specific events. I joined Aite group for internship, and worked as a full-time employee. Even though the project I was assigned was a little bit tough for me, I learned a lot from my teammates. Thanks to this certificate program, I entered a small international arena to learn from different people from different countries.
